Celebrate the Bicentennial of Lafayette's Farewell Tour! Interpreter extraordinaire Mark Schneider, takes on the role of Gen. Lafayette. To celebrate the bicentennial of Lafayette's return to America, Schneider will discuss his time in America during the Farewell Tour and his relationship with Indigenous Americans. Tyler Diaz portrays and performs the music of Francis Johnson, one of Americas first internationally renowned composers. Diaz, a musician and scholar, educates us about Johnson, a free black man and activist who was considered "one of the most celebrated personages in Philadelphia." In honor of Lafayette's visit in 1824, Johnson composed "Honor to The Brave: General Lafayette's Grand March," played at parades and balls in the general's honor. The performance is followed by a Q&A session with podcaster and NY Times bestselling author, Mike Duncan. In addition to his podcasts, Duncan authored one of the foremost books on Lafayette, Hero of Two Worlds. Run time 90 min.
