On February 18th 1965 the Cambridge Union Society held the infamous Baldwin Buckley debate. Now on its 60th anniversary and the occasion of James Baldwins Centennial The Town Hall is presenting an evening in response to the one of the greatest and most influential debates in American history. Perhaps second only to the Lincoln Douglas debates the Baldwin Buckley debate has been a continued source of discussion tribute and academic winning composer and performer Damien Sneed and acclaimed librettist Karen Chilton. Act I of the evening celebration includes the New York Premiere of The Tongue and the Lash and the premiere of a choreographed pas de deux by Tony Award winning choreographer George Faison of The Wiz fame. The Tongue and the Lash features opera performances by Markel Reed and Jonathan Johnson directed by opera legend Denyce Graves. Composer Damien Sneed will conduct the Orchestra of Tomorrow.
